Megadeth paid tribute to Chris Cornell by covering Soundgarden’s “Outshined” during a show in Tokyo. Frontman Dave Mustaine, who was clearly devastated by the news, declared, “We lost one of the most beautiful voices in rock history.”

While he was talking, a seemingly drunk fan was shouting “Holy Wars,” and the frontman calmly said “Shut the fuck up, asshole,” before adding, “Listen. A friend of mine – a friend of all of us – died today.”

Mustaine dedicated the cover to the fans, saying “we’re dedicating this song to you, our friends in Tokyo, cause we’re here with you and we love you so much.”

He further expressed his admiration for Cornell, saying, “I don’t sing like Chris, and I could never sing like Chris, but we’re going to sing the song right now.”
