State Champs have confirmed that they plan on working with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth on their next album.
“I think we’ll bring Alex back for a little bit of it,” frontman Derek DiScanio told Rock Sound.. “We want to write some songs ourselves again, combine those with the collaborations with Alex and then pick the best ones for the record.”
DiScanio and lead guitarist Tyer Szalkowski said that this wasn’t the first time they asked Garskarth to help them out.
“We approached him a few years ago to work on some shit but we never really got there with it,” said Szalkowski. “It was finally the right place, right time for both of us and it just kinda happened.”
The band first collaborated with Gaskarth in “Slow Burn” and “Hurry Up and Wait,” two new songs from the deluxe edition of their latest album “Around the World and Back.” The way the songs came out made them optimistic about collaborating with Gaskarth more on their next album.
“I like the dynamic of the two songs, they show a little bit of everything and they’re a hint into what we’re writing now,” added DiScanio. “We’re doing a lot of writing for the new record already, we’ve still got a way to go with it but we’re really starting to dive into the writing process.”
