That’s right folks, Pearl Jam is on the cover of Pulp Magazine’s November issue. The band who defined the 90’s era are back with Pearl Jam Twenty, a film helmed by award-winning director and music journalist Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maquire, Almost Famous, etc.). The film captures the band’s journey over the course of their twenty-year career. In this issue, you can get more details about the documentary film about this band who sold over 33 million album worldwide and held the music industry in the palm of their hands during the 90s.
If you think that’s a great story, wait until you see our Parkway Drive feature written by dedicated fan and Pulp correspondent, Laura Chan. Get the lowdown on these Australian metalcore breakthrough artists who are taking the world by storm in our eight-page story complete with exclusive photos!
If you want a little something closer to home, our issue is packed with a lot of local bands just for your taking. Subscapular, who recently released their long awaited debut We are Kids Forever, talks about longevity and staying strong in a very challenging local music industry. And since we are already talking about scenes, we move over to the heavy metal community, wherein Eternal Now makes their feature debut in Pulp. The local progressive heavy metal icons who already celebrated their 10th year anniversary are supporting Children of Bodom in their Manila show this November 19, 2011 at the Amoranto Theater.
Here’s when things get a little darker – Karl De Mesa takes us deeper into the local rock scene and came across Skies of Ember, one of the many shoegaze groups who pays tribute to the early 80s and 90s groups like Cocteau Twins, the Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. But before you brand them in anyway, check them out in this issue and you will learn that they are remarkably Asian. Furthermore, Delara grace the pages of Pulp as they take matters into their own hands and come out from the shadows of Mojoyfly.
We have more bands for the taking – Nicole and Carlo, Maya’s Ankelt, Monocrhome, Chiro, Ebe Dancel, The Commuters, Biohazard, and All Time Low. And wait, there’s more! We move our wacky duos Paolo Gregoletton and Mike Schleibaum, our celebrity columnists who give readers the most insane and hilarious stories from the road. Here, Paolo talks about being a “pro” flyer and yes, if you want to know the details of how a rockstar lives his life, you have to read this! Mike, on the otherhand, gives us a funny story about one of his birthday celebrations on the ride with “One Night at Whiskey Dicks.” If the title does not grab you, we don’t know what will!
And finally, we give you the complete coverage of Super Junior’s Super Show 3D complete with photos from the premiere, as well as the launching of the back-to-back KPOP issue with Super Junior and 2NE1 on the cover.
