Lovers of indie disco rock braved Friday the 13th and trooped to Casa Nami Surf Pub in Makati City to dance the bad luck away as Party Bear Productions launched the music video to Taken By Cars’ latest single “This Is Our City.” “This Is Our City” is Taken By Cars’s launching single off their independently released album Duality, which is already garnering critical nods and acclaim from critics and fans alike.
Taken By Cars was ably supported by bands such as ERNVILLE (who played their unique blend of disco rock and garage rock), the all-female disco-punk quartet FLYING IPIS (who played songs from their upcoming FLYING EP), QLE Awardess Indentikit (who played crowd pleasing staples “Tiny Fractures” and “Peach”) and PARANOID CITY (who got the ball rolling making people dance with their original songs fromtheir upcoming debut album Viewfinder Dreams and a cover of The Killers cover of Cyndi Lauper classic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”).
The dancing frenzy reached its boiling point as soon as PEDICAB took to the stage. After Pedicab, Taken By Cars manager and Party Bear head honcho Mike Shih then unveiled the music video. The video was directed by Quark Henares (an avowed big fan of the band) and was shot in the historic walls of Intramuros. Then Taken By Cars fittingly closed the night with a long set comprised mainly of songs from their sophomore release Duality as the dancing got crazier.
