Filipino indie music fans are currently making plans to troop to Singapore this January 25, 2014 for Laneway Festival Singapore 2014. The fast-growing event returns to the tranquil grounds of Gardens at the Bay. The fourth installment in Singapore promises to be the biggest, as ticket sales have matched the sales of the inaugural staging just ten days after the tickets were made available for purchase. Eighteen international acts have been announced to participate, including fast-rising female-fronted acts such as Scottish alternative electronic band CHVRCHES (fronted by the ever-charming Lauren Mayberry) and Los Angeles-based sister trio HAIM. Other notables in the line-up include The xx’s JAMIE XX, Singapore experimental rock band THE OBSERVATORY and English alternative music producer, singer-songwriter and 2013 Mercury Prize Album of the Year winner JAMES BLAKE.
The full line-up (in alphabetical order): CHVRCHES, DAUGHTER, FRIGHTENED RABBIT, GEMA, HAIM, JAGWAR MAR, JAMES BLAKE, JAMIE XX, THE JEZABELS, KURT VILE, MOUNT KIMBIE, SAVAGES, THE OBSERVATORY, UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA, VANCE JOY, VANDETTA, XXYYXX and YOUTH LAGOON.
St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is a boutique indie music festival that began in 2004. It has since evolved from a Melbourne street party to an established one-day touring event spanning four countries and eight cities — Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in Australia; Auckland in New Zealand; Singapore; and Detroit in the USA (debuting in September 2013). It delivers over 100 hours of music to over 90,000 music enthusiasts annually, regularly delivering sold-out events. Renowned bands who have done the Festival in the past include Mumford & Sons, Gotye, The Temper Trap, Florence + The Machine and Feist, among many others.
